Ezekiel Wong Kel Win was born in Malaysia, 1989. He left his hometown for education in Singapore at the age of 5. He has been an avid lover of paintbrushes, paint, crayons and drawing blocks ever since he was a kid.
Kel Win is currently a diploma graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts (2007-2010).
In December 2007, Kel Win was short listed for the Top 50 for the Pocket Films Festival in Japan, and his film was screened in Japan, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music Yokohama Campus. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, such as Snappy Close-Up (August 2008), Man Made This (October 2008), Such a Lovely Place, Such a Lovely Face (January 2009) and Almost Accidental (August 2009). Each of which containing elements of satire, worldly issues, and ironies in life.
Trained in the faculty of Fine Arts (Painting), Kel Win’s works mainly highlight conflicts, confrontations he faces in life and questions he has about life. However, he uses a comical aspect in his works to project a twisted view to mock the reality of the real world. He frequently employs photography, drawing and pastel colours, to express imaginary illustrations in his head and reactions to his surroundings in life. All of Kel Win’s works contain his ironic wit, humour, and challenges the contemporary world through his alter ego.
